Dear Editor:
It is looking like there may be trouble on the horizon in our community with ICE blazing in and compromising the rights of many through imposing force, violence and lack of due process. We could and should be prepared to protest this. This is our life together here on the coast. Most of us deeply value what we have, value the people who make it possible, value our neighbors, value a solid measure of integrity.
This all speaks to motives when it comes to objecting to the tactics and illegalities of ICE and the current stampede to suppression the administration is insisting upon. A president is leading a tribunal of thugs, parolees and lowlifes not fit to determine our values!
Think about how we can fend for ourselves. First and foremost, we can be awake and respond together, as we are the law of We the People. We can represent ourselves if we are left to it. We can object in much greater numbers to do visible meet and greet in opposition (morally and, with some dread, in person). Letters and articles submitted to news outlets and government representatives start from the bottom up. Breaking the spell of ICE invasions begins at home with us coming out of our closets, off our couches and away from all our reading about this.
It would be a good idea to consider being involved. One never knows what could happen next. Do we sit passively and despondently, waiting for gazillions of weird people to roll like tanks over us? $40 billion is going to go a long way in massive suppression. That is where this is headed.
If you are not worried about yourself, do it because you care for your fellow human beings. We are, when all is said and done, in this together. Let’s start acting on that.

Ah, we are in it all together, sounds about like the “warmth of collectivism” doesn’t it? Talk of tanks rolling over us, an invasion of thugs, parolees and lowlifes and all the violence! Oh dear! It’s even worse than “The Russians Are Coming.” Maybe set up a submarine lookout on the coastline. Reestablish coastal defense like in WWII when we had bunkers and artillery that could shoot 30 mikes out to sea, if they come that way. Be on the lookout, “One if by land, Two if by sea.”
Meanwhile, we wait, shaking nervously, with heavy breathing and sweating through our shirts. The Mendocino Coastline and the final battle awaits.
Are you ready Comrade?
Satire, (of course)
Glad you find this amusing. ICE surrounded a flipping kindergarten in Fremont. How do I know this? I have a friend who’s sold is in that school. So no, this is not over reacting. We are not that far away. Hope you don’t have a tan… they despise brown people
Not funny. You’re clearly not a person who would be targeted by ICE. Never before has police of any sort been allowed to wear masks. This is the sort of thing that happens under dictatorships. These ICE agents seem ill-trained and trigger-happy. I’d bet many are Proud Boys, eager to bust heads of anyone who isn’t white. All those who support what they’re doing, without questioning, are helping this administration to erode our sacred ideals. They think of themselves as patriots but have no idea what that even means. America has crossed several lines that lean towards fascism and anyone who grew up loving this country just be worried.
Too bad you did not like it. Anyway, I thought the whole thing was alarmist and it’s not going to really happen. So to me, this whole thing is amusing, entertaining actually.
Diane, the terrorist, hit the ice agent with her car which caused him to have internal bleeding. The ICE agent was well within his rights. FAFO. I have absolutely no sympathy for stupidity such as this
There was no hospital report that he had internal bleeding. He left the scene right after that happened. My buddy lives in Minnesota he saw that whole thing go down. She was murdered in Cold Blood. He didn’t go to the hospital for internal bleeding. He left the scene
Freddy, are you sure about that? That’s certainly not what I saw (and others who were present saw). The guy walked away and called her a bitch. How is that internal bleeding? If only it were true. Check your source of information.
Not Illegal?
Not a Felon?
Don’t runniver officers of the law?
If you can answer yes to these 3 questions, you have nothing to worry about… You are just a bunch of pearl clutching, sky is falling crybabies
Yes there is a typo… we all see it and you won’t look any smarter for pointing it out
You don’t fight someone who is out to create political theater by giving them a stage and supporting cast. Consider protesters as the squeaky wheel and ICE as the grease. Just Saying.
