MENDOCINO CO., 1/22/26 – Protests will take place in Mendocino County this week as part of what organizers say will be more than 100 demonstrations nationwide.
The “ICE Out for Good” demonstrations are in response to policies of President Donald Trump’s second administration, particularly U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s heightened immigration enforcement and the Jan. 7 death of 37-year-old American citizen Renée Nicole Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minn. during a federal immigration operation.
Indivisible Ukiah, the grassroots activist group organizing the Ukiah protest on Saturday, says the events are a chance to call for the defunding of ICE, a reduction in the budget and scope of Department of Homeland Security, and for Congress to legislate limits on the agency’s powers.
“Right now, it’s easy to pretend it can’t happen here,” said Indivisible Ukiah spokesperson Janet Rosen. “But the spending bill is coming up in Congress and as soon as the ICE budget increases and their hiring spree of minimally trained people is ready, it can and WILL happen all across the United States.”
The protests follow a Facebook post last year by Mendocino County District Attorney David Eyster, who pushed back on claims that Mendocino County is a “sanctuary jurisdiction,” citing state law that limits local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
A “sanctuary jurisdiction” generally refers to a state or local government that limits how much its law enforcement agencies cooperate with federal immigration authorities.
While no ICE activity has been confirmed in Mendocino County since the Trump administration ramped up enforcement, a rapid response hotline was started in early January by local volunteers allowing people to report alleged sightings.
“Ice Out for Good” protests are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in downtown Fort Bragg and 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mendocino County Courthouse in Ukiah.

To be more precise: the background statement should read, “Renée Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minn. during a protest confrontation with federal immigration authorities.”
And no, ICE agents will not be swarming the streets in Mendocino County. As much as the coastal elites want to become relevant in national news events, it ain’t gonna happen here. Not one, single, Border Patrol Officer or ICE Agent is coming.
Repeat. Not one. Not one who got lost. Not one visiting family. Not one on VACA. Nadie.
Thanks for the advance boot licking, Dave. ICE appreciate the willingness to comply before they ask and they especially like to be defended by people who don’t care about the constitution or civil rights.
Evad: Do you really care about the Constitution and Civil Rights? The sanctuary states are resisting federal immigration law today just like the states resisted civil rights law in the past.
I would like to see a sustained reassertion of federal authority supported by cooperation from the states. I want to see an end to the continued escalation of street-level chaos punctuated by preventable deaths.
Dave – Violating multiple amendments of our constitution is the opposite of caring for our civil rights. I highly doubt you care about reducing the chaos on the streets given your clear sycophant commentary all over this online Journal. If you really cared, you should ask for the full release of the Epstein files which our Orange buffoon in office keeps breaking the law over.
Am I the only one who sees the Democrat leftists crying out for the Epstein files, (as they relate to a convicted sex offender), are the very same ones violently opposed to the arrest of “pedophiles” in Minneapolis, Minnesota?
Never let consistency get in the way of your politics, eh?
Dave – Don’t take my word for it. Here is a list known of Republicans demanding the full release of the Epstein files.
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY): Led the effort to force a House vote on the “Epstein Files Transparency Act” to compel the Department of Justice to release all files, filing a discharge petition in September 2025.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA): Has been a vocal proponent of releasing all files, breaking with Donald Trump on the issue and arguing for transparency on behalf of victims.
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO): Signed the discharge petition to force a vote, stating she is committed to ensuring transparency.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC): Signed the petition to force a vote, stating it was in solidarity with survivors of abuse.
Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO): Called for the release of all documents, including grand jury testimonies, and supported a special prosecutor to investigate.
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN): Has consistently urged the Department of Justice to release evidence.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ): Co-sponsored the resolution to force the release of the documents.
No is out to get you sir. Please turn off your Faux news and take a walk in your beautiful county and engage in something productive to better people’s lives. Just because they are brown or speak differently than you is not a reason to violate their rights.
Democrats who voted to hold the Clintons in contempt of congress for not responding to a congressional subpoena tied to a committee’s investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein:
Reps. Maxwell Frost (Fla.), Raja Krishnamoorthi (Ill.), Summer Lee (Pa.), Stephen Lynch (Mass.), Ayanna Pressley (Mass.), Emily Randall (Wash.), Lateefah Simon (Calif.), Melanie Stansbury (N.M.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.)
Meanwhile, in the last 6 weeks, DHS law enforcement have arrested 3,000 criminal illegal aliens including vicious murderers, rapists, child pedophiles, and incredibly dangerous individuals. That’s the real news no one sees because of all the “White Noise” from the legacy media.
Well, then I guess it is safe to assume that you were disappointed that every single violent trump insurrectionists that attacked our Capitol and Capitol Police on 1/6 weren’t shot repeatedly in the cranium?
Spot on Dave
Where were the protesters when Biden and his globalist buddies facilitated 20 million unvetted, unskilled, criminals, scammers, mental patients, and the dregs of humans from around the world into our country, it has caused a serious burden on resources including housing, healthcare, fraud, crime, increased taxes, inflation, etc. You have to really hate our country to think this is OK. I have been a dem all my life, but I appreciate the courage of Trump and ICE and what they are trying to accomplish. Wake Up! Step out of the echo chamber.
Dear deranged Trump cult paid members, you guys need to turn off state regime media Fox News and take a walk outside. It’s nice lately. Your neighbors are actually pretty cool. Street level chaos is being escalated by federal police who are invading our cities without judicial warrants. Immigrants aren’t taking your jobs, housing or increasing your taxes. Donald Trump is the dumbest person to have ever lived on Earth. If you believe anything he says you might need more education. Check your local college online for classes. They are affordable for locals. Best of luck to you.
We will be protesting in solidarity this Saturday in Ukiah with brave Minneapolis for peacefully standing up for their community against repeated unnecessary violence from ICE following directions from lawless leaders. Protesters should stay safe and remember the majority of Americans and people Worldwide stand with us during this dark, dangerous time at the hands of unqualified “leaders” and violent criminals pardoned by a dangerous and deeply troubled felon. Constitutional rights and due process protect us all.
Yes, Dear. Stay safe, be smart, and don’t cross the line like in Minneapolis. Always remember:
Obstructing or impeding federal law enforcement involves willfully interfering with officers or investigations, covering violent acts (assaults) and non-violent actions; is a crime. Assaulting, resisting, or impeding an officer while performing their duties is a violation of Title 18, US Code 111.
Dave, you don’t have to bootlick the masked intruders while they beat handcuffed arrestees. You don’t have to cite us code in an effort to gain favor from the thugs who hide their faces like a paramilitary gang. You don’t really need to offer any advice to anyone beyond what might be your recommendation for a good taco truck in your neighborhood. Eventually lots of ICE agents will go to prison when this nightmare of a dementia patient in the Oval Office drooling on the Resolute Desk is behind us. Hopefully the next leaders will gain some courage and begin the transformation of law enforcement across America, starting with DHS. The Republican Party is destroying themselves and the end is near for their takeover of the country. Trump will be hustled away into a home in Azerbaijan where he can live out his last weeks in the unfinished penthouse of Trump Tower Baiku and JD will fade immediately into obscurity. The cult will dissolve. Then 20 years of recovery can begin.
Lots of mush. Nothing solid. Anyone can make predictions. My prediction is that the Trump Administration will invoke the Insurrection Act and send in active duty troops to sanctuary states to enforce federal law on immigration. Today’s protesting Democratic governors and mayors are behaving the same way they did back when they resisted federal law on civil rights. Yes, this has all happened before. Do a little research. I predict it will turn out the same as the legal rulings have been clearly established. Probably coming in springtime when rioters are generally the most active and destructive. So forget the mush. Learn your country’s history.
According to AI: No U.S. president has ever used the Insurrection Act to block, delay, or cancel a federal election.
The Insurrection Act of 1807 has been invoked approximately 30 times in U.S. history to suppress rebellions, quell riots, or enforce federal laws (such as during the Civil Rights movement).
Dave’s admission to being a treasonous stooge to a tyrant (and not the constitution) is gambling his ‘ prediction’ that Trump will just block elections and what happen to all of Hitler’s stooges? Dave?
It was Democrat Bull Connor, Birmingham, Alabama, who proclaimed “massive resistance” to racial integration. Democrats Governor George Wallace and Governor Orval Faubus (Arkansas) pushed for their respective states as sanctuaries against Federal civil rights laws. It all has a familiar ring to it; Democrats resisting federal authority while Republicans are defending Federal law. The country has bled blood on this ground before.
In contrast, a Republican Governor facing down protests in People’s Park in Berkeley, “If it takes a bloodbath, let’s get it over with.”
— Ronald Reagan
On this day of protest, have a nice day.
This is the first time I’ve posted on this site. Don’t want to get into a pissing match, but besides the obvious authoritarianism, I would like to express what really scares me at this moment in history. It is the ability to deconstruct or dismantle reality and fabricate it anew via AI and limited attentions spans in this “Brave New World.” History has always been controlled to great extent by powerful agendas, but the bad behavior l’m seeing in our society and historical revisionism that is transpiring will make the the destruction of knowledge caused during the Middle Ages and even the McCarthyism of the 1950s seem like mild head cold. No matter what side of the isle you’re on this should give you pause. The Irony is that the next generation may not be able to interpret who was on the wrong side of history. I’m sure I’m just preaching to the quire, but to me this is where the rubber meets the road for me.
Kids tomorrow aren’t debating whether our presidents’ stint into having sexual relations with children was ethical or his active use of stoking an insurrection was valid…The Epstein files will be a stain on US history like the little big horn before it or the Gulf of token. Failed imperialism is all over history and this MAGA movement will likely be more or less the same. MAGA is betting on a nearly 90 year old to carry their vision into the future? What kind of future does a nearly 90 year old have left to give ? Stroke, hypertension, Dementia, and CHF could end this movement at any moment if it isn’t the justice system. Jim Jones’s cult group died with him if you want some historical precedent. Hitler ended his life in a bunker surrounded by his enemies while his enablers were mostly hunted down, jailed and / or killed. Pol pot ending? That fact is all these nativist movements die with their own generations? The Confederacy and chattel slavery died because times have changed and the ecosystem that preserved no longer existed. The civil war was a temper tantrum of a waning culture norm in the US. Same will likely come about from the MAGA movement. A lost cause 2.0.
Yes, be “on the right side of history.” First, one should do a quick search of our history. Many of you will find our country has had to contend with rebellion, anarchy, insurrection, treason and resistance to federal authority from the very beginning: George Washington and the Whisky Rebellion, then Shay’s Rebellion, much later Lincoln and slavery, more recently Eisenhower followed by Kennedy and civil rights. Today it is Trump and immigration. I agree, get on the right side of our nation’s history and our laws, because mob rule (ochlocracy), will not prevail.
Hilarious example of historical knowledge by an appreciative bootlicker who wants everyone to bend the knee to “law and order.” Mob rule is currently being practiced by ICE. The DOJ is running on lies and law breaking. The FBI is being run by a criminal. Look at our own county. Our DA can’t be bothered to capitalize on a photo op when he gives $5K to a Catholic school for some non existent drug and gang diversion program but he sure has time to write up a 25 page rebuttal when the state auditors criticize his use of forfeiture money. He can’t be bothered to explain to the voters why the Broiler is his go-to for training purposes but he sure will whine in his 25 page rebuttal why he gets to blow some bucks wherever he wants- because “constitution.” It’s trickle down ethics erosion straight from Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, the two godfathers of the Republican trend towards criminality as essential to strong leadership. People with no sense of ethics love to be voted in with low turnout because after they win they can claim they’re only accountable to the voters and that means only those that voted for them. From Eyster to Trump it’s a crooked line of crooked minds.
Incoherent rambling, moving from topic to topic, along with hasty generalizations, or personal attacks, are the most common indicators of having lost a debate.
Kindly take your seat. It’s over with. Thank-you.
(Footnote: Everyone who read the comments is a little dumber now.)
Just curious?
Or does he horde an arsenal of unregistered guns in his mom’s basement?
It’s not a debate buddy. It’s the comment section of a podunk local online rag. You know why you’re here. Same as everyone else.
Most of us support ICE and do not want corrupt Mexican oligarchy invading our country. If you researched beyond corporate media you would recognize a military invasion when you see it. I can actually see it because I notice what kind of “immigrant” has arrived in the past 5 years.
Let me clarify, I’m only speaking of history in the general sense. Whether its this administration’s xenophobic attempts at controlling the historical narrative through posting an AI generated face on a peaceful protester, attempting to ban various books in our educational system, making out a race like Somalis to be of “Low IQ,” or on the opposite spectrum, the politically correct trying to erase the reprehensible acts of history by eradicating its monuments. Folks, it all falsifies the record. Later generations may not be able to discern what is moral or what is right and wrong if the record is wiped out and redrawn. Think of those nay sayers who proclaim there was no holocaust, and slavery is a myth. I know some people who argue the moon is flat. Non-violent immigrants being sent to nightmarish prisons in countries not of their Origen: right or wrong? History is obviously repeating itself here, but what if the bad guys win this time? Future generations may become assimilated to the point where they don’t have a choice. This is why I think a man like Jack Smith is in the limelight right now. He has been buying his time. He understands the serious ramifications riding on fate of democracy and the endgame I’m espousing, and is ready to die on the cross to prevent it from happening. Vaya Con Dios Jack. (I guess now I have revealed where my sentiments lie).
1. History. There’s the history based on factual evidence, and then there’s history in a general sense, they way one likes to think of it. Of course the later version would never hold up on school exam.
2. Monuments. Totally agree, eradicating monuments is reprehensible, including monuments honoring fallen Southern soldiers. In our family history we had soldiers fighting on both sides in the civil war. So for us, civil war history is American history; they died fighting for what they believed was right, during the time in which they lived. For the southerner at the time, it was a second war of independence.
3. Lawfare. Jack Smith came close, but failed to eliminate Trump from being elected a second time. He did make a significant difference in how former Presidents are treated, and how they are now fair game for political retribution using the legal process. In the past, they were left alone after leaving office. Now let’s watch what happens to Bill Clinton next. Thank you Jack Smith for that.
If this is podunk I think that will be my last post, Ta Ta!
If you like Somalia move to Somalia.
If you like Mexico move to Mx.
USA is for those who understand our unique values, civics and constitution
Not an oligarchy narco state run by criminals
Not Sharia law where little girls can be forced to have their genitals mutilated
If you truly think demographics and culture won’t fundamentally alter the kind of society you live in, perhaps destroying liberties and prosperity you have taken for granted, you are ignorant of history.
It occurs to me that those on the Left, including the anti-ICE folks, sure do engage in a lot of projection.
Yes
, ‘leftist’ folks love having their houses broken into by ICE agents without judicial warrants and having their constitutional rights violated. Just thinking – do you know what projection means in the context you are using it?
To Not thinking: As I recall, the Biden administration had the FBI breaking into conservatives’ homes and violating their constitutional rights.
Please tell me how the Sleepy Joe Biden abused conservatives and their rights? Did he arrest someone who was actively trying to bomb Obama’s residence or his own? That’s just normal law and order when you actively try to murder or harm people.
Sociopathic all of the “values” of the left (greed, envy, sloth etc)
Saul Alinskys handbook sums it up. Lie, cheat and steal your way to power. Then kill and destroy the country that gave it all to you
Must be lucrative to be a sell out.
Racists will always show their true colors after a few posts. “ So for us, civil war history is American history; they died fighting for what they believed was right, during the time in which they lived. For the southerner at the time, it was a second war of independence.”
The civil war was a war about whether America would be a slave dependent economy with all the injustices that held it together or a free nation that moved forward on a different economic model. The South lost their war to keep slaves. It was their lost cause. Monuments to the people who fought to keep slavery as the national model should be ground to dust and the memory of families who fought for slavery can be the memory of losers who didn’t believe in equality or justice and the memory of lost causes like human slavery. Monuments for freedom and justice can stand in their place as a lesson for the losers that keeping people in bondage, separating families by selling them to distant locations and reliance on human suffering as a business strategy was the wrong path that America could not continue to follow. History shows the factual truth. “There’s the history based on factual evidence, and then there’s history in a general sense, they way one likes to think of it. Of course the later version would never hold up on school exam.” Very, very true, Dave.
Leftist thinking is so predictable. Saying the same things over and over, never really able to think or speak for themselves.
Racism has nothing to do with it. Every race and group has had slaves. Slavery still exists in parts of the world today, particularly Middle East and Africa.
If you care about these issues I suggest moving to one of these countries. The old trope of “white people caused everyone’s problems” isn’t real history, it’s actually racist
I expected as much. Would you like to hear the truth? What if you heard it straight from a confederate soldier who fought in the civil war, and he said he did not fight for slavery, but for “State’s Rights”?
I refer you to a YouTube recording. Search on: Confederate soldier Julius Howell Interview What The South Fought For.
Howell addressed the combined Congress of the United States in Washington in 1944, when he was 98. This is historical fact. Against his testimony, our opinion of what the south fought for is next to meaningless. Go back to name-calling and personal attacks, it’s the one thing you are good at.
States rights was about slavery you silly redneck. American slaver insurrectionists took over the Mexican territory of Texas and realized they couldn’t fight Mexico by themselves and joined the US to maintain slavery since the Mexican govt already abolished slavery. Then the north put an end to slavery and states rights in the same context. Slaaaavery…..say it with me …. It broke the back of the south when slaves started making their way north and the beginning of the end of chattel slavery in the US.
Nobody normal thinks the civil war has anything to do with the immigration issues today. It’s extremely incoherent thinking. This is a problem in itself. The “dreamers” and other undocumented immigrants have no comprehension of our history, civics or the constitution. They have received very poor education and a lot of media. They are incapable of being informed citizens and are exactly the type of populace that turns democracy into violent tribalism
Isabel:
Just got around to looking at this once again. Agree, the Civil War was specific to a period of time in our nations history and did not cause any of today’s immigration issues.
However, the climate of division is similar. The anger, hateful speech by political leaders, and the confrontations in the streets leading to escalating conflict are a prelude to civil war. In many ways state resistance to federal authority and law is also similar, for example, state resistance to federal Civil Rights law in the past, and resistance to Immigration law today. Where they are similar we can learn from it. We all know from our history where it could lead.
Felon trump engages in name-calling and personal attacks every single day.
In response, you bend the knee and polish the tiny orange mushroom.
Why they hypocrisy?
Thank you Dave for winning this one for me without my additional help. The “state’s rights” argument of the southern states in the 1860’s was specifically about the right to continue as slave holders. The war was about the federal government in Washington’s decision to abolish slavery. Those states lost the “right” to keep people as slaves. One former soldier speaking before Congress in 1944 about his beliefs does not alter reality. Or history. Have a nice day , I will not be addressing your foolishness any more.
The slave holders were Democrats, right?
“just thinking” – Why are the Republicans / Conservatives the ones trying to save all these confederate statues? Republicans should be okay dokie with the dismantling of these oppressive symbols. Right? : / ….
Personally I did not appreciate the protests. Having been in animal rescue cleaning up the horrors of cartel marijuana grows around here (leaving dogs to die, dog fighting and rooster fighting) as well as the environment (illegal immigrants leave trash and pollute the rivers with vehicles)
The environmental degradation alone is enough for me to support this but the reality is this is an act of war by Mexican govt. they are sending militants.
If MX is a corrupt oligarchy why would we be ok with Mexican politicians invading our country?
Also the cartel. Look at who ICE is removing. I have had many friends who were “undocumented”. It is irrelevant to the mission. Mexican govt is a narco state controlled by psychopath drug lords.
I am young unlike boomers I care about the future. ICE needs to remove more illegals and the insurrection act needs to be used because this is an invasion.
Where do you mean “ around here.” Isabel? What local animal rescue organization were you working with? I’d like to join if it’s happening around here.
Someone is projecting about her own gov’t and doesn’t even know it.
-Blames Mexican immigrants for environmental degradation?
*Lives in a county that thrived on the black market for several decades and has long rap sheet of environmental law breaking in her own community.
-Mexico has corrupt oligarchy
*Elon Musk (an immigrant – “Not Mexican” and richest man on the planet) was telling the US gov’t how to govern and was instrumental in getting Trump a tri-fecta amongst the three houses of government
-Cartel
*I will put money down ICE hired the same domestic terrorists that participated in the Jan 6th insurrection at the Capitol building.
-You’re young
*and naive and uneducated…
None of your points are coherent.
The weed market was flooded by Mx cartel. They learned this economic warfare from Chinese military who is also funding the protests.
Who cares about Elon musk?
My point is clear: the effects of immigration, economic and social, is not something majority of people want. Thus, even democrats support defending the border. It is also an act of war and needs to be dealt with sooner than later. I don’t see what Dreamers are offering especially since they can all return to a nice life MX and maybe protest their Narco state where literally 6 people control all of the nation’s wealth. Mexicans need to change their own broken system. Not vote for the same corruption here.
The points all land on your projections.
Elon Musk is a billionaire immigrant manipulating US govt policy and corrupting the very process you speak of…
Most cannabis sites are owned by red blooded Americans and they actively break the laws.
AI even agrees with this…
Yes, illegal cannabis cultivation on public lands during the 1980s was heavily driven by American growers, marking a shift toward domestic production and creating significant, long-lasting environmental damage.
Key Aspects of 1980s Cannabis Environmental Crimes by Americans:
Rise of Domestic Cultivation: Following the “War on Drugs” and increased border enforcement (like the spraying of Mexican crops with paraquat in the late 70s), American growers began cultivating cannabis on public lands to avoid detection.
Environmental Destruction: Outlaw growers in the 1980s caused severe damage, including the poisoning of wildlife with pesticides and fertilizers, clearing trees, and siphoning water from streams.
Pollution: Millions of pounds of plastic, irrigation piping, and other waste were dumped into public forests.
“Green Rush” in Rural Areas: The era saw a “green rush” where many, including young “hippie settlers,” moved to rural areas to cultivate cannabis, often purchasing previously logged, degraded land.
Geographic Scope: While Northern California’s “Emerald Triangle” was a focal point, the DEA noted in 1985 that high-volume, illegal marijuana farming was occurring across the South, Midwest, and West Coast.
Scale of Operations: By the mid-1980s, massive, centralized illegal fields were common. For example, a 1986 raid in Kentucky yielded 384,000 plants.
I think we have trolls from somewhere else stirring the pot here. Strange syntax. Writing styles that mirror ELS writing with proficiency but not like how the average American writes. Specifically Dave and Isabel. I’ve spent a lot of time reading comments online and I used to be on twitter a lot. Recognizing foreign trolls is a thing you pick up on after a while especially on Twitter. One could probably cut and paste their comments into ChatGPT and see if they come out as likely not written by average Americans.
Okay, I’m a troll. I live in China. I was assigned to Mendocino County after I messed up my Portland, Oregon gig and was demoted. Go in Peas.
