MENDOCINO CO., 12/23/25 – Sandbag stations are open across Mendocino County for those still seeking to prepare their homes or businesses for possible flooding as an atmospheric river blankets the region bringing heavy rains. 

Residents and businesses must bring their own bags and shovels, unless noted otherwise. 

Friedman’s Home Improvement at 1255 Airport Park Blvd. in Ukiah sandbags for purchase, while supplies last. Call (707) 468-7811 for more information. 

Also in Ukiah, Aaction Rents at 1400 Hastings Road has free sand.

Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire District at 8481 East Road in Redwood Valley, has self-serve sand, bags and shovels behind the fire station. Limit 10 bags per household. Call (707) 485-8121 for more information. 

The city of Willits has a sandbag station next to the Willits Justice Center at the intersection of East Van Lane and North Marin Street.  

Sand is available at the Laytonville Volunteer Fire Department at 44950 Willits Ave. in Laytonville. Call (707) 984-6055 for more information.
