MENDOCINO CO., 12/1/25 – Birds of a feather might flock together, but the same can also be said for artists at the new exhibit “Birds on the Brain” at the Gualala Arts Center.

The exhibit, which opens Friday, features bird-centric works from artists throughout the North Coast region.

An open call was held with only one caveat: each artwork must feature a bird.

The submissions comprise an extensive array of works depicting birds in all their glory — as spiritual messengers, colorful communicators and feathered friends.

Curated by artist Tempra Board, the show features photography, painting, encaustic, collage, drawings, ceramics and other media.

“Birds on the Brain” opens Friday, Dec. 5, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center, 46501 Old State Highway, Gualala. The exhibit runs through Jan. 4. More information is available at http://www.gualalaarts.org.
