Upon arrival at the scene, first responders attempted life-saving measures for two passengers, a 16-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl, both from Gualala. Despite the first responders’ efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old man from Gualala, was treated for minor injuries.

According to the CHP, alcohol and/or drug impairment are not considered factors in the investigation.

The identities of the victims have not been released, and an investigation is ongoing, the CHP said.
