Dear Editor,
I was flying high when I read about the $2.5 million grant that addresses homelessness and mental health support on the Mendocino Coast. Your article highlighted a compassionate approach to homelessness and mental health.
The Care Response Unit (CRU) model is a great solution to merge social service and law enforcement together to ensure treatment for those in crisis. Can you imagine a community where mental health support is treated the same as physical health support? Communities would be healthier and homelessness would decrease.
I urge our leaders to expand these services. Together, we can create a community of individuals who are of healthy mind, body, and spirit.
Sincerely,
Nickie Johnson
