The restrictions limit water for commercial and personal use.
The Fort Bragg City Council downgraded the city’s water emergency from a Stage 4 water crisis to a Stage 2 water alert because the city’s 22.6 million gallon reservoir is at capacity and the desalination unit is now operational.
A $335,000 desalination plant arrived in Fort Bragg on Sept. 25, but no longer needs to be used right away thanks to the arrival of much-needed rain. The plant is intended to treat water from the Noyo River, which becomes too brackish for the city to pump for drinking water when the river is experiencing low flows and high tides.
The dam has provided recreation for youth groups, campers since 1951.
The dam is a temporary and constructed on a seasonal basis by the resort and campground.
