The Ukiah Valley Fire Authority will help realize a $7.2 million fuels reduction grant in Mendocino County.
The chairman of the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians said advocates have “given us enough time to find a solution to this problem that works for everyone.”
“I am a role model for Pomo youth, and that is why I took a stand today,” one activist said.
Activists call for the protection of sacred Pomo sites, stewardship centered on climate resiliency, and a moratorium on logging.
Cal Fire hopes to seek public input regarding management plan revisions as soon as this winter.
