WILLITS — This situation is developing and we’ll continue to update as more info becomes available. The CHP will be releasing a statement soon. What we can piece together from scanner chatter and some phone calls, and Facebook: the incident began at about 3:10pm, when a routine traffic stop in front of Pizza to Go on Commercial St. in Willits escalated into a car chase. Apparently a sheriffs deputy pulled over a faded black Hyundai, and before he could get to the other car, the vehicle took off.
