MENDOCINO Co., 4/23/17 — A man who had been shot multiple times under unknown circumstances was found by Ukiah Police Department officers on Cindee Drive in Ukiah on Saturday, according to a UPD press release. The victim was located after one officer, handling a traffic accident nearby, heard four or five gun shots in the vicinity and subsequently found the 38 year old man suffering from gun shot wounds on nearby Cindee Drive. The man was then transported by ground and air ambulance out of the county for medical treatment.
The statement from UPD indicates that the victim was shot in the street, although there is no additional information about the incident or suspect available. UPD is requesting assistance in the investigation, and ask if anyone has any regarding the incident, including “If anyone knows of video surveillance in the area,” to please contact the Ukiah Police Department Detective Division at 463-6262.

Press Release: Shooting 800 block Cindee Drive
Ukiah Police Department case # 17-1148On April 22nd at about 11:48 am, a UPD Community Service Officer was dispatched to the 800 block of South Orchard Avenue, regarding a traffic accident. While working the traffic accident, he heard 4 to 5 gun shots very near-by and radioed UPD dispatch for assistance. On Cindee near the intersection of South Orchard Avenue, UPD officers located a 38-year-old male in the street. The male was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and evidence was located indicating that he had been shot in the street. Officers rendered first-aid and the male was transported via ground ambulance to an awaiting air ambulance. The male subject was airlifted to a major trauma center out of county. UPD Detectives responded and investigated the shooting. The Ukiah Police Department is looking into whether the incident was gang related.
